Paid Time Off

Taking time off can make a world of difference for your overall well-being and productivity. You may also need extended time away from work for health, family, or other reasons.

Holidays

Myriad Genetics observes multiple holidays throughout the year. Please reach out to Human Resources for a complete description of the Holiday Calendar.

Personal Time Off: Non-Exempt Staff

Personal Time Off (PTO) can be used for personal time, sick time, volunteering, vacation, etc. Full-time non-exempt teammates are eligible for PTO* and receive the first 40 hours of their annual PTO hours within the first pay period of employment. You may accumulate a maximum of 1x** your annual PTO accrual. No negative balances are allowed. PTO hours are paid out at termination of employment (pro-rated if within first year).

*Part-time teammates residing in certain states may be eligible for a PTO benefit. Please refer to the Employee Handbook for additional information.
**California residents may accrue up to 1.5 times their annual PTO accrual and no additional PTO will be earned until some is used.

Discretionary Time Off: Exempt Employees

In recognition that exempt employees may work variable and sometimes long hours, Myriad Genetics offers exempt employees the opportunity to take as much Discretionary Time Off (DTO) with pay as you deem consistent with your duties, the company’s needs, and its obligations. Basically, as long as your work is getting done, your team can function well while you’re away, and your manager approves, you can take time off for whatever you want.

You may use DTO for reasons such as:

  • Vacations
  • Non-medical appointments
  • Family time
  • A personal day off

DTO cannot be used for:

  • An absence related to your illness or injury
  • An absence related to your family member’s illness or injury
  • Absences covered by the company’s paid sick time policy
  • Leaves of absences, including bereavement, jury duty, FMLA, etc., all of which are covered by separate company policies

DTO under this policy is not earned or accrued at any time and is not a form of additional wages.

Paid Sick Time: Exempt Employees

Paid Sick Time (PST) is provided to full-time exempt employees in addition to DTO. You will have eighty (80) hours of PST upon hire* and on January 1st of each year thereafter, or as required by individual sick leave jurisdictions. You may carry over up to eighty (80) hours of PST from year to year up to 160 hours.

You may use PST for reasons such as:

  • Your and/or your family member’s medical care
  • Safe Time in relation to domestic violence
  • Your and/or your family member’s bone marrow or organ donation
  • Birth, adoption, or foster placement of a child

Family Member means a teammate’s spouse, domestic partner, or equivalent designation, child, parent, sibling, grandparent, grandchild, or any individual related by blood or affinity whose close association with the employee is the equivalent of a family relationship, and for any other “family member” identified by applicable law.

*Prorated for teammates hired after August 1, 2020.

Paid Sick Time: Part-Time Employees

Paid sick and safe time (PT-SL) is offered to those employees not eligible for vacation or PTO; part-time, temporary, and variable employees. To the extent any term contained in this policy is inconsistent with any federal, state, or local law regarding paid sick or safe leave, the more generous of terms between this Policy and the law will apply.

PT-SL will be allotted to eligible employees, in one lump-sum amount, in the first pay period of employment. The amount of PT-SL provided will be pro-rated based on the month of hire. Please refer to the Employee Handbook for additional details.

Paid Parental Leave

Myriad Genetics believes in supporting teammates when they welcome new children into their families. For this reason, we offer eligible teammates paid time off to bond with their new child.

All regular full-time teammates will receive up to 12 weeks of Paid Parental Leave to bond with their new child following the birth, adoption, or placement of their child.

Employed for less than 12 consecutive months 70% of regular base pay
Employed for more than 12 consecutive months 100% of regular base pay

Paid Parental Leave will be administered through The Hartford along with FMLA and disability programs. Birth parents may choose to use up to 12 weeks of Paid Parental Leave to be paid through Myriad Genetics payroll or collect short-term disability benefits (60% of salary) for the first six-to-eight weeks, then use Paid Parental Leave for up to twelve weeks.

Bereavement Leave

Caring is a core company value at Myriad Genetics. Thus, if a teammate experiences a death in their immediate family, they are eligible for time off with pay to grieve and attend memorial services. “Immediate family” includes a teammate’s:

  • Spouse (or registered domestic partner)
  • Parents (including step and in-law)
  • Siblings (including biological, adopted, step and in-law)
  • Children (biological, adopted, step, or pregnancy loss or miscarriage)
  • Grandparents (including step and in-law)
  • Grandchildren (biological, adopted, or step)

For many people, the passing of a close friend or non-immediate family member can be just as painful as the loss of someone in their immediate family. Teammates confronting this situation should request leave from their managers under this policy.

Teammates are presumptively entitled to up to 40 hours of paid leave under this policy. But teammates who have a compelling need for more than 40 hours to grieve or to attend distant funeral services should request an extension of leave from their managers. Managers may then contact the company’s Leave and Benefits Administrator within Human Resources for approval of requests for leave exceeding 40 hours. If you are a part-time teammate, you may be allowed to take unpaid bereavement leave of up to 40 hours with approval from your manager and notice to Human Resources.

Length of Service Awards

The purpose of these awards is to recognize the dedication and contributions of teammates who have attained length of service milestones with Myriad Genetics. Teammates who meet 5, 10, 15, 20, or 25 years of service with Myriad Genetics are eligible for an award. Please contact Human Resources for more information.

Long-Term Equity & Employee Stock Purchase Plan

Myriad Genetics provides Long-Term Equity awards to reward our teammates for reaching specific goals that lead to their success and the successful performance of the company.

As a teammate of Myriad Genetics, you have the opportunity to share in our company’s financial future through the ownership of company stock. The Employee Stock Purchase Plan lets you buy shares of Myriad Genetics common stock at a discount through convenient payroll deductions, adding a potentially valuable component to your long-term savings. To be eligible to participate in the Employee Stock Purchase Plan, teammates must be employed at least three (3) consecutive months prior to June 1 and December 1 every year.

Regular teammates scheduled to work at least 20 hours a week can enroll in the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Education Reimbursement Benefits

Myriad Genetics is committed to supporting teammates as they learn, grow, and advance in their careers. Education reimbursement benefits were established to offer financial assistance to eligible teammates pursuing self-development through higher education. There are two education benefit options.

Tuition reimbursement

Myriad Genetics offers a program of tuition reimbursement for full-time teammates wishing to continue their professional development through formal education. Teammates who have completed three consecutive months of service are eligible to apply. Courses must be related to your employment with Myriad Genetics and approved in advance. Reimbursement is allowed for up to one course per term, with a maximum of three courses per year.

Maximum Reimbursement Amounts: $1,200 Per Course / $2,400 Per Calendar Year.

Student debt program

Myriad Genetics offers a student debt program to help teammates reduce their student loan debt. Full-time teammates who have completed three months of service may have a company-funded $100 payment applied to their qualified higher education student loan each month. This payment is in addition to the teammates’ monthly payment and is designed to help teammates pay their loans off faster and save on interest. Teammates may enroll in the program through Fidelity Investments.
